Now that EA has obtained planning consent for the rebuild of the long-lost original building, the first phase of construction awaits the final ground plan and services design. The new shed will be the precursor to track laying in the yard and station area.
The EA team will act as the YVT’s contractors, leaving the Trust to continue raising the funds while EA gets on with the job.
Yeo Valley Trust, working closely with Exmoor Associates, recently launched an ambitious project to purchase the former Chelfham Mill School site for eventual use by the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway. The YVT and Exmoor Associates provided material to support the Barnstaple Railway Exhibition 16-20 December 2023. The Exhibition was put on by Barnstaple Town Council and covered all the lines radiating from Barnstaple, including “ours”.
